About me
Ciao, I’m Andrea — an Italian server living, running, and building a life in New York City.
I was born and raised in a small town in Umbria, center of Italy, surrounded by good food, good people, and the kind of hospitality that comes naturally when you grow up in an Italian family.
I didn’t plan to become a server in America — but a decision I made as a teenager changed everything.
In 2010, I came to the U.S. for the first time thanks to my uncle, who was already living here.
He gave me the opportunity to try something new, to work, to explore, and to see more of the world. That summer job opened the door to a life I never imagined.
Years later, when I moved to New York City, everything changed again — this time, I was truly starting from zero.
No friends, no contacts, no connections in the industry.
Just me, my experience, and the willingness to work hard.
Today, I’m based in Manhattan, working in busy restaurants, pushing myself physically and mentally, and building the life I want one day at a time.
What I do
I am a professional server with years of experience in both fine dining and high-volume restaurants.
From seasonal places in Maine to well-known restaurants in NYC, I’ve built a reputation for being fast, efficient, consistent, and reliable.
My work focuses on:
- Reading guests quickly
- Delivering warm, genuine, memorable service
- Guiding the table and controlling the flow of the experience
I treat serving like a real profession — because it is.
There’s skill, strategy, psychology, rhythm, and discipline behind every great shift.
My Story: From Italy → USA → New York City
When I first moved to the U.S., I was lucky to have my uncle in Maine helping me.
But when I decided to move to New York City, it was a completely different situation. I arrived alone, without industry connections, without friends, and without a plan other than:
Work. Learn. Improve. Adapt.
New York pushed me harder than any other place.
Serving here means pressure, long hours, fast pace, demanding guests, and zero room for mistakes — but it also made me better, tougher, sharper, and more professional.
Discipline as a Lifestyle
My life changed when I committed to running.
I started running when I was 17–18 in Italy simply to burn calories and lose weight.
But over the years, running became much more:
a routine, a mental reset, a tool for discipline, and a way to stay grounded through the chaos of restaurant life.
It taught me:
- consistency
- mental toughness
- emotional control
- how to push when I’m tired
- how to build habits that last
- how to stay healthy while working nights and doubles
Now I’m training for the Jersey City Marathon in April, with the goal of eventually qualifying for the New York City Marathon.
My Book & My Mission
The book I’m writing is mainly about becoming a better server — the skills, the mindset, the tricks, the strategies, the discipline, and the habits needed to become truly great in this industry.
It’s not a book about theory.
It’s based on real experience, real mistakes, real lessons, and the reality of working in American restaurants.
Inside the book I also talk about:
- discipline
- self-improvement
- running
- financial independence
- small daily habits that change your life
But the core of the book is simple:
Helping servers become better, make more money, have a better career, and feel proud of what they do.
What I Believe
Life improves through consistency, not magic.
When you show up every day — to work, to your habits, to your goals — everything else slowly aligns.
I’m not perfect and I don’t pretend to be.
But I’m always improving myself: as a server, as a runner, as a writer, and as a person.
What’s Next
I’m building:
- my book
- my website and blog
- my running journey
- my financial independence plan
- and a better, stronger version of myself
Everything I share online comes from real life — real shifts, real mistakes, real routines, and real growth.
